Welcome to the second edition of the CiS magazine. This time we chose ethics as the theme, and have interpreted it pretty broadly - looking at ethics in the lab, at biomedical issues, the environment, and sharing of resources globally.

We have to thank our team of writers, mainly students, who have again submitted a great range of articles and reviews, as well as those who responded to some gentle arm twisting. We would also like to thank Larissa Johnston, who helped with the editing.

We hope you enjoy it!

Bekki Pearce, Assistant Editor

This issue's prize winning article
CiS is giving a £50 prize for the best student–written article in each issue. This issue's winner is Jared Honeycutt, a masters student from Oxford, for his article Science and Development Congratulations!

Thank you again to CiS chair Prof John Bryant and freelance journalist Dr Pete Moore for judging.
