CiS Manchester: The Manchester Science and Philosophy Group aims to provide an opportunity for those in and around the Manchester area to discuss science and faith in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Each meeting will have a short talk followed by plenty of time for questions and discussion over refreshments.
The group generally meet in St. Peter’s House, Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9GH. All these events are free, and you don’t need to book, but do put them in your diaries! For more details please e-mail the secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As it looks neither possible nor wise to meet for some time yet in our former style, we are instead embracing the opportunity to host meetings on Zoom, and we have an exciting and varied programme prepared for the autumn season. Starting in September, we will have a meeting at 7pm on the first Monday of every month.
05/10/20 Rev Dr Justin Tomkins – Voices on Technology
During this event Justin Tomkins will seek to describe and open up a discussion around his recent work on the ‘Voices on Technology’ survey.
Through engaging with Christians working professionally in science, medicine and technology he’s identified ten lessons for the Church. These lessons are rooted in what we can learn from the professional experience of those in our congregations who are working at technological front-lines of our contemporary world.
02/11/20 Dr Rhoda Hawkins – Order & disorder
07/12/20 Rev Dr Roger Abbot – Responding pastorally to the scientific and theological features of a pandemic
