Local Groups

Local groups are at the core of how Christians in Science operate.

Click on the headings below to find out more details about your local group. 

If there is no local group in your area but you wish there was please e-mail the Development Officer for details of how to go about setting up a new group.

Aberdeen

A discussion group runs in Aberdeen. If you would like details of meetings please contact David Ely at aberdeenlocalgroup@yahoo.co.uk

Abergavenny

A home-based group located in Abergavenny, we meet regularly to discuss various science – faith topics.  If you would like details of location and meeting times please contact Dr Huw Morgan on jhcmorgan@gmail.com.

Birmingham (West Midlands)

The Birmingham local group is run by students from the University of Birmingham. We meet on campus once a month to equip, encourage and pray for one another and to pray for our campus. For more information , click here.

Bristol

Cambridge

The CiS – Faraday lectures are a termly lecture series on science and religion, funded as part of the activities of The Faraday Institute.

Central South

CiS Central South is a group aimed at people in and around the Southampton area who are interested in discussing the relationship between science and Christianity. If you would like to get involved please email Peter May (petergeorgemay@gmail.com

Dundee

Durham

The Durham University local group aims to provide opportunities for people in the North-East to discuss the relationship between science and faith through lectures, discussion groups, prayer meetings and social events.  For more information, or to join our mailing list, please email durhamuniversity.cis@gmail.com

Edinburgh

Ireland

CiS Ireland brings together those with an interest in science and faith on the island of Ireland. We hold regular meetings, including the God and Science Lectures in various locations in Ireland and our meetings are open to all who have a genuine interest in science-faith issues. Leeds

CiS Leeds aims to provide a forum for discussion of science – faith issues in Yorkshire.  We meet together regularly at South Parade Baptist Church, Headingley, Leeds.  For information about upcoming events please click here. To be added onto the mailing list please e-mail John Lockwood.

Liverpool

CiS Manchester: The Manchester Science and Philosophy Group is a group aiming to provide an opportunity for those in and around the Manchester area to discuss science and faith in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Each meeting will have a short talk followed by plenty of time for questions and discussion over coffee. Sheffield

The University of Sheffield group meet every fortnight during term time to explore issues of science and faith. We will also host a public event each term so that anyone can hear Christian scientists explain how science interacts with their faith. St Andrews

The University of St Andrews has both an undergraduate and a postgraduate CiS group. The undergraduate group meets up weekly during the semester and the postgraduate group meets up several times a semester to discuss the relationship between faith and science. Surrey

To provide a forum for discussion of science and faith in Surrey, the Surrey chapter of Christians in Science aims to organize two or three public meetings per year, addressed by well-known / experienced speakers who are Christians and scientists, expressing their views on Science - Faith topics.  Please contact Joy Perkins on joyeperkins@googlemail.com for details about upcoming events in the area.  

Tyneside and Northumberland

West Midlands

Until recently, the West Midlands CiS group ran in conjunction with the Birmingham University CiS group, but recently they have become two groups.
